The Design

Originally built in 1926, the Langler Residence is a character home thoughtfully re imagined to meet the brief of a growing family seeking a home that balances heritage charm with modern functionality. The design retains the historic frontage and portions of the original structure while introducing a contemporary extension that embraces relaxed, modern Australian living. The client wanted a home that felt like a 'down south holiday', where the wood fire could be burning and the family could feel connected. At the heart of the extension, rammed earth anchors the home in its natural setting, while layered, tactile materials - Taj Mahal quartzite, rich timbers, and natural finishes - create depth, warmth, and authenticity.

In recognition of its thoughtful design, Langler Residence was awarded the 2025 People's Choice Award by Hart & Co.
